Catalog is an upcoming application from Panic that will serve as a web store for the Playdate, allowing people to purchase and download hand-picked games. Not much is known about the application yet. It was announced on the [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JPTX8GESzZY&t=199s Early 2022 Playdate Update].

On December 8th 2022 during [https://playdate-wiki.com/wiki/The_2022_Playdate_Community_Awards the 2022 Playdate Community Awards] we got the next [https://youtube.com/watch/TW2SHhYw0Vo?t=536 Update on Catalog (4 Minute Segment) presented by Cabel Sasser]. The information presented was as following:
Some games are [[:Category:Catalog Exclusive|only available on Catalog]] or feature Catalog exclusive content such as online leaderboards, a feature exclusive to Catalog and [[Season One]]. Games on Catalog also benefit from direct to device downloads and automatic updates.

- The launch of Catalog is seen by Panic almost as a Launch 2.0 for the Playdate
Catalog games are generally released in batches, with a new "drop" every other Tuesday at 10am Pacific time. New drops are indicated by a blinking, aqua-colored light on the Playdate.

Catalog was announced on the [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JPTX8GESzZY&t=199s Early 2022 Playdate Update], and officially launched on March 7th, 2023 alongside [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qr1_f-Q8Klw Playdate Update #3].
 
==Trivia==
* Scenic Route Software has published the most games on Catalog with Post Hero, Generations, Shift, Greed, Four Corners, You're Gonna Miss the Bus!, Lillybug, and Shift II.
* Drop 7 was pushed from July 4, 2023 to July 5, 2023, to not fall on Independence Day (a national holiday in the US).
* Drop 11 was pushed from August 29, 2023  to September 5, 2023 so the games wouldn't clash with the then-running PAX West event.
* There was no drop on January 2, 2024, due to Panic being on holiday vacation at that time. Instead, there was an "extra" drop on December 12, 2023 — in between the two regularly-scheduled drops.
* Drop 25 was pushed from March 12, 2024 to March 14, 2024, so as to not clash with the release of Mars After Midnight or the store-wide anniversary sale.
* [[The Lushes Land]] was originally meant to be released in Catalog alongside Drop 8, but wasn't able to be included in time due to last-minute legal/financial complications<ref>https://discord.com/channels/675983554655551509/675983555209330691/1130912520119517244</ref>. History

Catalog was announced on the Early 2022 Playdate Update, and officially launched on March 7th, 2023 alongside Playdate Update #3.

Trivia

  • Scenic Route Software has published the most games on Catalog with Post Hero, Generations, Shift, Greed, Four Corners, You're Gonna Miss the Bus!, Lillybug, and Shift II.
  • Drop 7 was pushed from July 4, 2023 to July 5, 2023, to not fall on Independence Day (a national holiday in the US).
  • Drop 11 was pushed from August 29, 2023 to September 5, 2023 so the games wouldn't clash with the then-running PAX West event.
  • There was no drop on January 2, 2024, due to Panic being on holiday vacation at that time. Instead, there was an "extra" drop on December 12, 2023 — in between the two regularly-scheduled drops.
  • Drop 25 was pushed from March 12, 2024 to March 14, 2024, so as to not clash with the release of Mars After Midnight or the store-wide anniversary sale.
  • The Lushes Land was originally meant to be released in Catalog alongside Drop 8, but wasn't able to be included in time due to last-minute legal/financial complications[13]. It was placed into the Coming Soon group temporarily, and officially released in Drop 9.
  • Faraway Fairway, Quantum Phantom Basketball, Oom, and Pullfrog were all funded by Panic.
  • Panic-published Playdate titles are typically released on their own, outside of any drops. Quantum Phantom Basketball was released on August 31st, 2023 due to its spotlight at the PAX West event, and Oom & Pullfrog were both released on February 20th, 2024.
