Madeline Planet, News Anchor

"Sad news today as the Bendonauts have not returned from their journey and are presumed dead. Their monitor packs have ceased broadcasting and researchers are unable to locate a signal. We go now live to the GCC Observatory, where recovery efforts have been led by Dr. Zeph Boing. Dr. Boing, can you hear me?"

Dr. Zeph Boing appears in the top right corner.

Dr. Zeph Boing

"Uh, yes, Madeline."

Madeline

"How is the mood there?"

Dr. Boing

"Not great. After calculating the temporal compression of the Bend, we estimated that the Bendonauts would return immediately after departing, if not slightly earlier. As you can imagine, we've been waiting eagerly, but at this point, it's clear they're... not coming back."

Madeline

"And what does this mean for the future of the Space Bending Program?"

Dr. Boing

"Program? What program? The council is talking about decommissioning us."

Loose sheets of paper start being thrown around behind Dr. Boing.

"Hey, you! Cut it out! You can't do that without my authority!"

The program cuts out abruptly.
