"In science news, astronomers at the GCC Observatory have picked up an obscure signal. It seems to indicate that tens of thousands of PeeDee devices were activated on a planet on the other side of the galaxy. I'm joined by Doctor Zeph Boing, who is credited with the discovery. Doctor Boing, that must have come as quite a surprise."

Dr. Zeph Boing

"Absolutely, Madeline, we checked the readout over and over, but there's no faking it. Somewhere out there, PeeDees just like ours are sending out a small but powerful techno-signature from across the galaxy."

Madeline

"How is it that we're able to receive this signal?"

Zeph

"It appears to be passing through a previously undetected anomaly in space."

Madeline

"Is it dangerous?"

Zeph

"It appears stable at this time. The endpoint sits right above the stratosphere. What's weird is that the other end points to a blue and green Blip-like planet. We can only assume if they have PeeDees, that there must be intelligent life there."

Madeline

"Congratulations on this momentous discovery!"

Speculations and theories

• If they are referring to Earth as a "Blip-like planet", one could assume that their planet is called "Blip".
• Considering that the "blue and green Blip-like planet" refers to our Earth, there is some interstellar ping-pong going on: Earth started broadcasting, Blip picked it up, TV broadcasts about it, which we are now picking up.
• Maybe the conceit of the whole Blippo+ game is what we players are holding in our hands is not a Playdate by Panic, but actually a real PeeDee. And for the sake of the show we are actually on Blip, just consuming TV?
• What is the anomaly? Is there a wormwhole connecting both our planets? If it is stable at this time will it become unstable?
• Will they pick up Earths' TV as well?

Trivia

• The name of PeeDee is inspired by the initials of the Playdate
• GCC is probably an inside joke for the Gnu Compiler Collection used in software development
• "Tens of thousands of PeeDee devices were activated" refers not only to the number of Playdates sold so far, but also that at that very moment when we got to first see this show, indeed tens of thousands of Playdates did activate with Season 2. Nice synchronicity between fiction and reality there :-)
